Pro Tools Certification to be offered in Eugene at NCU

This may be of possible interest to DIVA members working in sound design.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Northwest Christian University (NCU) has become the first and only training center in Oregon to offer Pro Tools Certification training. Students who complete a course and pass an online exam will become nationally certified by Avid, the makers of Pro Tools. The software is considered by many to be the industry standard for music recording and editing.

"Pro Tools is billed as the world's most advanced music and audio creation system," said John Hakes, associate professor of music at NCU. "I'm excited that we'll be able to offer this training. Until now, students who wanted certification in Pro Tools had to travel to the closest institutions offering this training, which are in the Seattle area and in California."

The next course begins March 7, 2011, and will be held on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Northwest Christian University. Outside of class, students will have access to Pro Tools 9 through user stations on NCU's campus. The two-credit course will cost $790. Enrollment is open to anyone and not limited to NCU students. The deadline to register is Feb. 18, 2011.

For additional information and to sign up for the course, please contact Hakes at jhakes@nwcu.edu, (541) 684-7240, or visit the NCU Music Industry website.
