You need to take action now to support Senator Inouye's FY 2011 "Long-term" Continuing Resolution proposal that restores NEA funding for FY 2011 to $167.5 million and $25 million to the Arts in Education program.  This bill, created in the Senate Appropriations Committee last Friday, counters the House passed bill (H.R. 1) that reduces the NEA to $124 million and completely eliminates the Arts in Education program.

Take Action Now in the following ways:

  • Americans for the Arts Action Fund has an effective portal where you can contact your Senator and send them an email expressing your concern about the NEA and NEH 2011 funding.  You can go directly there by clicking here: Americans for the Arts Action Fund.
  • Call your Senator at their district offices.  It is very effective to speak to a staff member who tracks calls from constituents. Explain that you support these agencies and do not wish to see any cuts to them.  Tell stories about how these agencies support the work you do in your community by providing jobs and public programs.
  • Call your Senator at their Washington office and ask to speak to the staff member who handles these issues for the official. Explain that you support these agencies and do not wish to see any cuts.  Tell stories about how these agencies support the work you do in your community by providing jobs and public programs.

Take a moment now to let your Senator know what you think about the proposed cuts.  Please forward this message around to your constituents and ask them to take action to join you.

Thank you,

Jack Walsh
Executive Director
